Insight Meditation Retreat
3 – 9 October 2013
This retreat is for people with at least one week’s previous experience of silent meditation retreat in the Insight Meditation/Vipassana tradition. One meditation interview with a teacher from Gaia House will be available during the retreat. There will be a daily schedule of 45 minute sitting and walking periods. A recorded Dharma talk will be played in the evening.
Apart from the interviews, there will be no meditation teacher present. At least one week’s previous retreat experience is therefore essential. Retreatants need to be confident that they can practice independently.
The retreat will have a maximum of fourteen participants and acccommodation will be in shared rooms for two or three people.
Retreatants are asked to make a commitment to staying for the full retreat.
On the final day there will be a combination of discussion groups on aspects of daily practice interspersed with periods of silence.
The retreat is offered freely as the organisers intend to fundraise in advance to cover all costs. (We anticipate these will be about £150 per person). Donations will be invited at the end of the retreat.
These will be used to fund retreats which will be held in 2014. This gives retreatants the opportunity to practice generosity by making it possible for future retreats to also be offered freely.
